POSITION SUMMARY

In the absence of the head teller, responsible for the supervision of the teller area. Guides, trains, and advises tellers in the efficient and accurate handling of member needs. Solves member problems, resolves teller issues, and helps with complex work-related matters. Performs all teller functions as needed. Ensures a high level of accuracy in all teller transactions. Monitors and achieves teller operational compliance in accordance with the procedures described in established policies and guidelines. Actively promote and cross-sales Credit Union products and services. Actively cross-selling is a job requirement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Promotes Credit Union products and services based on member needs obtained from member interviews and/or review of member accounts. Maintains an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all Credit Union products and services that are handled or promoted by the Credit Union. Trains, coaches, and monitors tellers in identifying member needs, suggested solutions and cross-selling of Credit Union products and services. Actively involved in cross-selling of Credit Union product and services.
  • Serves as the Credit Union’s primary contact with its members, both in providing services and in routing inquiries to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in the training of tellers in all aspects of teller operations according to established policies and procedures, cross trains and promotes active cross selling. Informs Branch Manager of goals reached, cross-training, etc.
  • Receives deposits and payments for all types of accounts, verifies cash and negotiability of checks and issues receipts, giving credit for funds according to established policies. Inputs data ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Cashes checks and accepts withdrawal requests in accordance with established policies, referring questionable transactions to supervisor for approval. Inputs data ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Follows all security policies and procedures. Maintains an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related polices and procedures, rules and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedure. Reports discrepancies or suspicious activity to supervisor.
  • Verifies accuracy of Power of Attorney Documents and inputs data to effect such.
  • Prepares, processes, and packages coins for shipment.
  • Maintains assigned cash drawer, balances work daily and complies with teller accuracy standards.
  • Responsible for ATM equipment to include balancing, monitoring equipment, and ordering supplies. Informs department manager of any mechanical problems regarding the machine and/or alarm.
  • Assists in the posting of mail deposits, general ledger accounts and file maintenance on opened/closed deposit boxes and opened/closed accounts.
  • Serves as Head Teller during absences, assuming all supervisory duties as required. Performs any duty normally assigned to Head Teller, as required.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned. This list of essential duties is not exhaustive; it may be supplemented as necessary from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience handling currency with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to effectively communicate Credit Union policies, products and services in order to cross-sell and train tellers assigned to the Branch.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with a willingness to support others within the Credit Union.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer with a high level of proficiency in such software applications as word processing, spreadsheets, internet and email. Ability to operate a fax, calculator and copier.
  • Ability to independently balance cash drawers and comply with established teller accuracy standards.
  • Must maintain professional demeanor in all situations.
  • Must maintain professional appearance, representing the Credit Union in the highest standards.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, train, and develop subordinates.
