General Summary

Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of all equipment at Circle M Food Shop convenience stores, Clipper Petroleum Dealer locations and all Clipper owned properties. The Maintenance Assistant will work closely with all other Maintenance Technicians, Service Manager, Director of Maintenance, Site Managers, and Retail Store Territory Managers. Emphasis is placed on safety, consistency, teamwork, positive work attitude, excellent customer service and maintaining exceptional overall store and restaurant operating conditions. Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Assistant Service Manager.

Essential Functions of the Job

• Responsible for performing multiple maintenance tasks including, but not limited to; equipment/parts deliveries, assembly of various equipment (on-site and in warehouse), and general facility repairs (Basic Plumbing, Carpentry, Electrical/Lighting, Painting, Decaling).
  • Painting (including, but not limited to; protective bollards, curbs, canopy poles, area light poles and parking stops).
  • Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
  • Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door or wall repair.
  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
  • Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems, such as using a sealant on a flat roof
  • Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
  • Assist other team members with projects and service repairs.
• Maintain organized inventory in warehouse and on service truck.
• Maintain Service Vehicles (Keep Interior/Exterior Clean and Oil/Service on time and up to date)
• Complete all jobs through maintenance service software (Ipad).
• Maintaining a safe working/shopping environment for all Clipper Petroleum, Circle M and Dealer location Customers and Site Personnel.

Working Conditions

Maintenance/Service working environment involves some exposure to conditions including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain/snow/ice, handling of petroleum products (Gasoline, Diesel, Oil, Grease, etc.), operating machinery, extended driving time and noise. Physical demands are moderate to heavy lifting/carrying at least 50 pounds, or more (with assistance). Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stand, talk and hear.

Education and Experience

College degree or any equivalent in training, which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

2 years of experience required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problems
• Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the building's electricity
• Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building
• Groundskeeping if the facility contains lawns or other outdoor areas in need of maintenance
• Interpersonal skills to interact with employees or residents of the building in a pleasant manner
• Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
• Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building
• Valid Drivers license and ability to pull a trailer
