Custodial Supervisor


The Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park seeks a full-time Custodial Supervisor. Reporting to the Facilities Director, the supervisor is responsible for overseeing all of the custodial functions of the Globe facilities. The position directly supervises all custodial staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, managing.

Experience as a supervisor in cleaning services or maintenance, and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work required. The Custodial Supervisor will work alongside custodian staff to ensure the cleanliness of the all Globe office spaces, work areas, rehearsal and event spaces, and outdoor spaces, including the Globe three theatres, Technical Center, and other Globe facilities, and also fill-in as required.

Custodian

The Old Globe in San Diego’s beautiful Balboa Park seeks a diligent, highly motivated, and reliable Custodian to work in facilities and on grounds, cleaning and providing general maintenance to all areas. Maintenance Technician


The Old Globe seeks a skilled general maintenance technician with a strong background in building maintenance, HVAC systems, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing maintenance, to work for this award-winning, acclaimed regional theatre located in beautiful Balboa Park.

Job duties include: monitoring and troubleshooting boiler and HVAC units; appliance maintenance and repair; plumbing repair; preventive maintenance/repair on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment; electrical work including replacing and installing electrical components and equipment; and event setup.

3-5 years building maintenance experience strongly preferred. Flexible schedule including evening and weekend work required. Resident Design Assistant

The Old Globe, a Tony Award-winning theatre and one of the country’s leading regional LORT B+ theatres, seeks a Resident Design Assistant with a strong background in technical theatre. Position works in the scenery department and aids scenic designers and technical staff in support of The Old Globe’s 15 show season.

The Old Globe is known for producing a broad range of work from Shakespeare and the classical repertoire to world premiere musicals and plays, touring productions, and Arts Engagement events. In this role, you’ll get to work with some of America’s best scenic designers, directors, and creative teams working in our three theatres located in San Diego’s beautiful Balboa Park. This position is an excellent opportunity to work at the highest level in regional theatre.

The Resident Design Assistant is responsible for ensuring scenic design documentation is current, accurate and accessible. They assist scenic designers by facilitating communication, drafting details, completing model making tasks, coordinating site visits, and shipping sample and model pieces. They assist the scene shop by coordinating accurate plan and section documentation, material choices, finishes, and architectural details. The Resident Design Assistant will attend design meetings, production meetings and attend tech and dress rehearsals and previews.

Must be fluent in AutoCAD, Vectorworks, and Adobe Creative Suite. Must have scenic design skills, model-making skills, scenic art experience, and knowledge of period styles.

Must be available for overtime as needed and evening/weekend work. May be required to help dress sets, run errands, and assist the scenic artists. The Old Globe seeks qualified applicants for a full-time Draper/ Tailor. This position reports to the Costume Director and is responsible for leading a team of artisans to create a wide variety of theatrical, historical, contemporary, tailored, and specialty costumes. The Draper/Tailor is expected to efficiently produce a large quantity of high quality costumes, achieving the Globe’s high production and safety standards. The Draper/Tailor is expected to work independently and as part of a team; communicating effectively with production, creative, and administrative staff in delivering support for productions and ensuring department success.

The Draper/Tailor will determine, with the Costume Director, the construction method required, estimate yardage and work flow, make patterns, cut or supervise the cutting of garments based on the sketches and research; and direct the assembly, fitting and altering, final application of fabric and trims of all assigned garments.

Qualified candidates should demonstrate at least 4 years of progressive work creating high quality theatrical costumes; a thorough knowledge of a pattern making system; knowledge of historical and garment making resources; and expertise in managing and training team members to produce the desired results and increased skill sets.

Successful applicants should be self-motivated, adept at problem-solving, and attentive to details and timelines. Flexible hours and overtime is required, Workweek is Tuesday- Saturday. Able to adapt to a changing work environment quickly and manage competing demands. Responsibilities: The Assistant Prop Director is a key member of our properties office team, working under the direction of the Properties Director and closely with the other Assistant Prop Director you will work with the props team to plan, create, collect, shop, and fabricate stage properties. Duties include creating props lists, budgets, and props designs; shopping for materials and props; supporting rehearsals and show crews; accounting for production and department related expenses; and other duties including attending rehearsals, meetings, and techs as a representative of the department.

Desired Knowledge and Experiences: progressive experience in props departments, including fabrication of stage properties, show running, purchasing, and expense tracking. Knowledge of weapons handling, safety protocols, work with live flame, and associated permits. Knowledge of historical time periods in relation to theatrical props.

Desired Skills: Props fabrication, computer skills (office suite, drafting programs, graphics programs), effective verbal and written communication. Candidates should be able demonstrate effective organization skills and the ability to work on simultaneous projects.

Our well-equipped shop is tightly integrated into the rehearsal process and provides ongoing support to shows in performance. You will be an integral part of making our productions amazing.

Responsibilities include: Supervising and working alongside props artisans, building and modifying stage properties to meet design specifications, furniture construction and restoration, hand prop creation, painting, sewing, creation of food and other prop materials, supporting ongoing productions, shop and warehouse maintenance, and providing regular safety training to department staff.

The Old Globe Theatre seeks a part-time Public Safety Team Member for its theatre complex in Balboa Park. As a member of the Public Safety Team, the successful candidate will help to maintain the safety and security of all patrons and staff on The Old Globe’s plaza, theatres, offices, and other company property. The ideal applicant will possess excellent customer service skills, verbal skills to de-escalate conflicts, and the ability to be proactive and detail-oriented. Duties include but are not limited to; securing/locking up buildings, patrolling theatre property, and providing transportation via golf cart or shuttle van to our patrons, staff, and actors responding to patron inquires, and assisting with other activities onsite as requested by manager and leads.

This is an in-house position with an hourly pay rate of $17.00 plus ticket privileges. Must be available to work afternoons through late evening hours including weekends; some day shift hours will be available. Average schedule is 20-25 hours per week.

Lead Ticket Services Representative


The Old Globe Theatre in beautiful Balboa Park seeks an individual who is detail-oriented and experienced in both ticketing and customer service for the position of Lead Ticket Services Representative.

The Lead Ticket Services Representative will assist the Director and Associate Director in all tasks of the ticket office including; processing ticket orders, running reports, overseeing special projects, training and mentoring Ticket Representatives, handling customer relations, and other administrative duties.

Successful candidates will have strong ticketing experience (Tessitura ticketing system preferred) and excellent customer service including strong organizational and administrative skills with efficient follow-through on projects. Proficient computer skills utilizing Microsoft Excel preferred.

Evening and weekend availability required. Must be able to pass applicable background screening. Bilingual English/Spanish and multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Ticket Services Representative (part-time)


The Old Globe, one of San Diego's most celebrated professional theatres, seeks ticket representatives with excellent customer service experience and strong telephone and computer skills to work in our Ticket Office located in beautiful Balboa Park.

Ticket Services Representative provide customer service to Globe patrons by assisting patrons with ticket and subscription orders over the phone and in person at the walk-up window. Ticket reps will work on show nights distributing will call and assisting patrons at the window. Ticket reps will become knowledgeable in the history of the Globe and current product offerings in order to best assist patrons.

Ticket Services Representatives are part-time positions working 16-30 hours per week. Office hours are 11:30am-8:15pm, daily; applicants must be available nights and weekends and be able to complete and clear a background screening.
