Job description
What you will be doing:
  • Employment Counseling: You will counsel clients in the hospitality industry on various employment and HR matters. This will involve providing guidance on employee-related issues and assisting clients in navigating complex employment regulations.
  • Litigation: You will handle employment litigation cases, representing clients in both state and federal courts. This will include drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents, as well as appearing in court proceedings. You will also be involved in trial preparation and have the opportunity to advocate for clients' interests.
  • Client Management: You will manage clients' expectations, communicate effectively, and provide strategic advice on litigation and dispute resolution strategies. This will require excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively counsel clients on risk assessments.
Experience you will need:
  • Seeking an associate with 4-7 years of employment counseling and litigation experience to work with our clients in the hospitality industry.
  • Have hands-on, broad litigation experience with specific experience in employment litigation
  • Have hands-on experience counseling clients on employment and employee related matters
  • Possess stellar research and writing skills
  • Have a working knowledge of the NY CPLR and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have attention to detail, and you are extremely organized
  • Are able to manage and maintain your own calendar and caseload
  • Have a collaborative attitude
  • Are pro-active and have an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Employment Litigation: You should have hands-on experience in employment litigation, including handling all stages of litigation in both state and federal courts.
  • Employment Counseling: You should possess experience counseling clients on employment and employee-related matters. This involves providing advice on compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Research and Writing Skills: Strong research and writing skills are essential for drafting legal documents, pleadings, motions, and other related materials.
  • Knowledge of Legal Procedures: You should have a working knowledge of the NY CPLR (New York Civil Practice Law and Rules) and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Communication and Organizational Skills: Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities are necessary to effectively manage your own caseload, maintain calendars, and meet deadlines.
