Position Summary


The Associate Director of Development is a frontline fundraising position that works on the Development team in SAIC’s Office of Advancement and is responsible for a

portfolio of major and planned gift prospects and donors. They plan and execute a strategy of communication and engagement in order to qualify, solicit and steward donors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a portfolio of 100+ prospects and donors, with a focus on qualification.
  • Identify and cultivate engagement strategies for alumni and friend prospects and donors through events, visits, personalized correspondence, proposals and phone calls.
  • Develop and manage a personal pipeline of $25k+ solicitations with revenue and activity goals. Formulate and implement strategies for short-and long-term giving outcomes. Monitor, evaluate, and report on progress and outcomes against goals.
  • In partnership with Advancement Operations team, ensure that donor records and external activity are current; maintain integrity of system and ensure that it is being utilized in an efficient and effective manner. Track and record donor-related activity in the Office of Advancement’s CRM database, Raiser’s Edge.
  • Collaborate appropriately and effectively with Advancement colleagues and campus partners to help engage them in ways that advance the School’s philanthropic priorities.
  • Develop and maintain current fluency in SAIC’s institutional and philanthropic news and priorities to serve as an ambassador to donors and the external community.
  • Seek opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance including building networks within the School and with colleagues at peer institutions, with an eye towards broadly diversifying the advancement profession.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of relationship management experience in development, marketing, sales or equivalent experience is required.
  • Discretion and experience working successfully with institutional leaders and high-level donors.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, project management, presentation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with data entry and donor management software applications, Raiser’s Edge experience preferable.
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
