The Associate Director of College Counseling will have experience with and enthusiasm for working with talented and dedicated students and their parents, committed and engaged faculty and staff members, and our trusted colleagues and partners in college and university admissions. The position will join a committed college counseling team that includes a Director of College Counseling and a Testing Coordinator /Administrative Assistant.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Individually meet with seniors throughout the fall semester to review applications and related essays
  • Meet individually with juniors and their parents in January/February to build their college lists, which should be tailored towards fit
  • Meet with students in grades 9-12 as needed to advise on course selection and other academic advising related issues
  • Oversee programming throughout the school year for sophomores which can include: the PSAT administration, grade level discussion topics like summer programs, junior year orientation, etc.
  • Provide college related programming throughout the school year for first year students
  • Write detailed letters of recommendation for seniors applying to universities and colleges
  • Help manage the communication plan and programming calendar for the college office
  • Maintain ongoing data trend analysis
  • Assist with special programming on campus
  • Support the College Counseling Office's print and electronic resources (Naviance, monitors outside College Counseling and bulletin board, etc.)
  • Maintain and update college counseling data and information on various websites
  • Plan and facilitate college counseling events
  • Host college representative visits on campus
  • Attend fly-in programs and professional conferences (NACAC, WACAC, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with universities in order to monitor trends and to advocate for TVT students
  • Provide support to the Testing Center Coordinator, which can include proctoring for standardized testing, etc.
  • Serve as a member of the Orange County NACAC College Fair Committee
  • Represent the school at various events such as Back to School Night, Curriculum Night, Coastline Case Studies, etc.
  • Minimum five years of college counseling experience either at the secondary school level or as a college admissions professional at a college or university
  • Bachelor's degree required: Master's degree preferred
  • Evidence of continuing education in the field of college counseling
  • Knowledge of relevant technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced educational environment

Compensation Range

The full-time equivalent salary range for this position is $75,000 - $125,000. The starting salary is based upon, but not limited to, several factors that include type and years of experience, education level, and expertise.
