Job DescriptionOur Sourcing team partner with the business to ensure efficient acquisition of goods and services that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines and Animal Health products. We collaborate internationally and are grouped into center-led categories and regional operating teams.
Position Description:
The Associate Director is responsible for defining sourcing strategies for specialty clinical Laboratory and biorepository Services in support of our Company’s clinical development pipeline.
The role will need to interact effectively with senior leaders within our Company’s Global Clinical Development (GCD) division to ensure alignment with and delivery of business objectives. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all sourcing strategies are compliant and follow Global Procurement’s SOPs. The selected candidate will also have managerial responsibility for 1-2 reports.
Leadership: Accountable for development and implementation of robust sourcing strategies that link to core business deliverables while leveraging knowledge of the marketplace and supplier community. Provide leadership and direction for cross-functional teams. Build high performing engagement models with business units and regions.
Strategy Development/Implementation: Utilizes SMP and other tools and techniques to create breakthrough strategies that deliver quick wins and generate legitimate business value.
Continuous Improvement: Ensure that each supplier relationship is established with a bias for continuous improvement. Support development and monitoring of key performance indicators that demonstrate improvements.
Change Management: Utilizes outstanding project, program and change management skills to manage and drive change both internally and externally.
Contract Negotiation: Reviews and negotiates contract terms and conditions both with internal and external stakeholders, including legal and finance. Performs detailed analysis of supplier proposals and payment schedules and conducts rigorous price negotiations with suppliers.
Diversity: Actively supports diversity, both within our Company as well as expanding relationships and spend with Diverse Suppliers.
Category Knowledge: Leverages deep understanding of marketplace, competitors and business requirements. Develop keen insights on near term as well as long-term horizon.
Cost Management: Helps drive the control, containment and reduction of costs for our research labs. Implements Supplier Value Management with key suppliers to foster innovation, manage supplier performance and ensure continuous improvement.
Position Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
B.S./B.A. in Business, Finance, Science, Engineering or related field required.
MBA or advanced degree is desirable, but not required.
Required Experience and Skills:
Extensive (8+ years) strategic sourcing in clinical development procurement or related experience in pharmaceutical industry or clinical field.
Excellent analytical, project management, communication, relationship, team building and leadership skills
Extensive experience managing internal and external business relationships.
Must be adaptable in dealing with ambiguous and complex environments.
Able to effectively lead diverse, cross-functional teams to achieve stakeholder, department, and company goals.
Demonstrated negotiation skills.
Proficient in the use of personal computers and business software.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Strong preference for experience with clinical trial central lab services.
Experience, either at a sponsor or CRO, working on outsourced services for clinical trials.
People management experience.

Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected salary range:
$118,640.00 - $186,800.00
