As an Associate Gas Engineer, you will apply engineering principles to design and install distribution system in a safe, efficient and practical manner. Manage projects during field installations.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Performs engineering design, calculations, estimates, studies and coordination of gas distribution facilities installations.
- Analyzes load, pressure requirements, future growth and other variables during the design process.
- Oversees the layout, sizing and specification of pipeline equipment, economic justifications and indirect supervision of others when project teamwork is required.
- Creates engineering drawings and effectively communicate design details to field personnel and contractors.
- Conducts distribution system pressure and cathodic protection studies.
- Makes and maintains external contacts to assure that materials, supplies and information are available as needed and that information is exchanged with external sources, agencies and local utilities on line locations and planned projects.
- Prepares economic justification (concise, factual and conclusive statements of the purpose, merits and necessity) for each project proposed to assist management with evaluation of capital investment. This includes budget items and completion reports for specific construction projects.
- Reviews completed work orders and cost data to assure conformance with plans and acceptability of construction charges. Updates estimated unit prices as needed.
- Assists in evaluation of system operations and troubleshoots problems.
Basic Qualifications:
Education:
- Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil or other approved engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
