This is what you will do:
- We are seeking a highly motivated in vivo pharmacologist to work in a dynamic preclinical environment focused on delivering clinically translatable solutions to advancing drug development inflammatory, autoimmune, and retinal disorders. The full-time role will focus on the design, development, and evaluation of lead therapeutics in nonclinical pharmacology studies and ex vivo biochemical and bioanalytical assays support. The successful candidate will contribute to development and characterization of in vivo mouse models, as well as support ex vivo protein and cellular analysis.
You will be responsible to:
- Designs, executes, and interprets experiments, with a high degree of reliability and independence
- Exercises emerging judgment to prioritize studies, based on Project impact
- Performs basic statistical analysis of experimental data, where appropriate
- Independently conducts own experimental troubleshooting on a routine basis
- Prepares lucid protocols and written study reports
- Surveys relevant scientific literature to maintain awareness of issues and trends within the field
- Present studies effectively at internal Group/Department or Project Team research meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned

You will need to have:
- Experience in execution of well-controlled experiments to demonstrate proof-of-concept in preclinical models.
- An established and comprehensive hands-on in vivo skill set, including compound administration, anesthesia use, blood, and handling, processing, and profiling ex vivo tissue samples
- Experience with developing, executing and/or troubleshooting in vitro and ex vivo sample immunoassays
- Ability to multi-task and excellent organization to support multiple projects across platforms and disease biology/pharmacology
- Essential qualities include flexibility, adaptability and the ability to function effectively as part of an interactive team.
- Ability to perform under pressure to deliver consistent results under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and in groups to solve problems.

- The duties of this role are generally conducted in a lab environment. As is typical of a lab-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: lift/carry 15/30 pounds unassisted/assisted; work comfortably in a controlled environment with and around biological, infectious, and hazardous materials; gown/degown PPE; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours; position may require occasional on-site weekend work. In addition, employees in this role must be able, with or without an accommodation to: pass a medical evaluation; wear a respirator while maintaining a tight-fitting seal to the face.
We would prefer for you to have:
- BS 4-7 years or MS 2-4 years of experience in the development and utilization of in vivo models in an academic, medical or pharmaceutical/biotechnology environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and exemplary organizational practices
- Experience using programs such as GraphPad Prism and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentation.
