JOBJob Summary: The Senior Vice President and Provost invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate | Vice Provost for Student Success. The successful candidate will be collaborative, inclusive, and empathetic, and will provide leadership, advocacy, and coordination for academic and non-academic initiatives supporting student success at Hawai'i Pacific University. The successful candidate will work closely with deans, administrators, and support staff in Academic Affairs and Enrollment Management to develop strategies, initiatives, and interventions to improve undergraduate student retention and to improve the persistence and graduation rates of undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, the successful candidate will provide leadership on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives designed to improve student success of underrepresented and under resourced student populations.Hawai’i Pacific University (HPU) is a private, non-profit student-centered institution of approximately 4,200 undergraduate and 700 graduate students. Founded in 1965, it is Hawai’i’s largest private university with its core campus in the heart of Honolulu’s business district. In recent years, the University has experienced year-over-year enrollment growth at the undergraduate and graduate levels in existing and new on-site, hybrid, and online programs. Expanding student success is a strategic priority for HPU, and as an institutions with federally-designated Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander serving status, the University is leveraging federal grant funds, foundation grants, and internal resources to expand support student learning and success.Units reporting up through to the Associate | Vice Provost include the Center for Academic Success, Student Life, and Library and Learning Commons. This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position. Preferred start date is July 1, 2023. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: An earned master's degree from an accredited university (for Associate Provost).At least five years of recent experience in non-profit higher education, with preference given to candidates with a leadership background in academic and/or student affairs, advising, or enrollment management.Demonstrated leadership abilities, including strong and effective interpersonal skills, abilities to relate well to people, to manage resources, and to delegate responsibilities and proportionate authority.Proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and the university community both within and across disciplines.Demonstrated administrative, analytic, and leadership skills.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and to innovate and adjust to dynamic circumstances on an as-needed basis.Vibrant commitment to inclusivity and diversity, and ability to interact effectively with diverse cultures and ethnic groups.Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).Desired Qualifications: Earned doctorate or terminal degree (for Vice Provost)Seven years of progressively responsible experience in higher education programming, student affairs, advising, and/or retention-related activities.Prior experience in meeting regional or professional accreditation requirementsPrior experience in a non-profit, private university setting.Other Qualifications: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.Must be willing to reside on the island of 'Oahu in the State of Hawaii.Must have reliable method of transportation between campus locations. Occasional travel to professional conferences may be required.Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions: Lead Campus Initiatives to Promote Student Success (60%)Provide leadership to ensure that academic programs and services are providing excellent support to HPU's varied student populations. Duties include overseeing the functioning and effectiveness of student support services, including, but not limited to, the services provided within the Center for Academic Success, such as testing, tutoring, career counseling, academic coaching, accessibility accommodations, and the implementation of the First Year and Leadership Seminar courses;Provide oversight to co-curricular student life programs and activities to ensure that programming and services represent the strategic priorities of the university and create a campus climate that is supportive and welcoming to a diverse student body.Oversee the functioning and services of the Library and Learning Commons and recommend modifications to products and services to meet changing student needs;Lead the University's Shared Governance Committee on Student Success, serving as a liaison for faculty, staff, and student leaders. In this capacity, develop and implement strategic plans designed to promote student learning and success for a range of student populations, including dual-credit, underrepresented minorities, first-generation, military/veteran, online, transfer, and graduate students.Lead campus initiatives to promote student success of underrepresented and under resourced students, which includes leading the university's efforts to support greater diversity, equity, and inclusion among students at the undergraduate and graduate levels; Collaborate in the development of campus-wide strategies to improve students' well-being and overall health and wellness;Collaborate in campus-wide development, planning, and execution of effective strategies to identify key performance indicators and strategic outcomes;Use data to modify policies, processes, and practices to promote improved rates for retention, persistence, graduation, and student satisfaction. Serve as Project Lead for Federal Grant and Foundation Proposals (20%): Contribute to federal grant and foundation-funded initiatives to secure wrap-around resources to support a diverse student body of undergraduate, graduate, and adult learners;Collaborate with staff in University Advancement and Office of Sponsored Projects to identify fundable initiatives, projects, and strategies to improve student retention, persistence, and graduation rates;Seek opportunities to secure additional resources to expand student support services. Support Campus Events and Traditions (10%)Provide leadership to key campus events, such as Preview Days for prospective students, and events for matriculated students and families, including new student orientation, 'Ohana Weekend, Military Appreciation Day, Commencement, and Homecoming.Ensure programming is accessible and inclusive of all student learners, including dual-credit, first-generation, online/hybrid, graduate, and adult learner populations. 4.
