Position: Athletic Coordinator

Location: Athens High School

Reports to: District Athletic Director

Salary: Commensurate with Experience

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree required
  • Master’s Degree with administrative/coaching experience preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Develop athletic games and practice schedules that are physically and educationally sound
  • Secure officials for all home contests, schedule transportation for away contests
  • Oversee cancellations/rescheduled events
  • Hire varsity head coaches in conjunction with District Athletic Director
  • Supervise all coaches, including helping, supporting, advising, and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate to develop opportunities for coaches’ professional growth
  • Oversee seasonal equipment inventory, year-end summaries, and
  • Evaluate varsity head coaches at the end of each season, including holding a post-season evaluation meeting in conjunction
with District Athletic Director
  • Communicate with parents and student-athletes
  • Assist district personnel in developing, maintaining, and repairing athletic facilities
  • Maintain working knowledge of Michigan High School Athletics Association (MHSAA) Rules and Regulations
  • Ensure that the athletics program abides by all MHSAA rules
  • Maintain working knowledge of Oakland Activities Association (OAA) bylaws and relationships with OAA personnel
  • Maintain working knowledge of Oakland County Athletic Directors Association (OCADA) operations and information
  • Attend weekly TSD Athletics meetings, monthly OAA meetings, and periodic OCADA meetings
  • Review and enforce Troy School District Athletic Code of Conduct for student athletes
  • Oversee all athletics internal accounts and maintain proper money handling procedures for athletics personnel
  • Attend monthly Athletic Booster Club meetings, serving as liaison between club and coaches/administration
  • Oversee the Faculty Manager and all aspects of hosting athletic contests: event management, gate receipts, MHSAA
tournaments
  • Supervise all home athletic contests
  • Determine athletic eligibility for all student-athletes, inform coaches and student-athletes of eligibility issues
  • Maintain eligibility records and reports
  • Oversee and process collection of all required athletic forms on FinalForms
  • Organize and present at season coaches and parent meetings
  • Order, issue, and maintain record of building athletic awards
  • Serve as a visible and positive public relations advocate for TSD and AHS athletics via social media, weekly building updates,
and other avenues of publicity
  • Maintain an appropriate and professional relationship with students, parents, and staff at all times
  • Perform other athletics-related duties as assigned by Building Principal and/or District Athletic Director
  • Participate as a member of the Athens High School administrative team
  • Support and oversee clubs at Athens High School
  • Support student activities and events in collaboration with the AHS admin team.
  • Build positive relationships with students and staff at AHS
