Job Description:

The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine is responsible for: prevention of athletic injury & illness; injury evaluation, assessment and management; rehabilitation of athletic injury. The position will work directly with student athletes, but will also supervise staff athletic trainers and other graduate assistant athletic trainers within the sports medicine program. The position will coordinate the sports medicine services related to mental health, handle all pharmacy related issues and provide any additional oversight and coverage needs as determined by the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Health & Wellness. This position will also be responsible for assisting in policy and procedure development, the education and counseling of student athletes and coaches, inventory budget management and control and other duties as assigned.

The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine will also assist the sports medicine staff in various other administrative areas as deemed necessary by the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Health & Wellness. The Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine will be responsible for maintaining a commitment to NCAA Rules and Compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
  • Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association
  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in a sports medicine related field is required
  • 5 years post-professional experience is required
  • Supervisory & Administrative work experience is required
  • CPR certification
  • Must be eligible for an Ohio Athletic Training License

Communication and other skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Flexibility in work hours/days
  • Ability to function as a member of a sports medicine team
  • Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior
  • Able to manage, develop and lead a team of medical professionals
