Full-Time High School Head Athletic Trainer- EPIC Physical Therapy
EPIC Physical therapy is hiring an athletic trainer for the 2022-2023 school year to be working at one of the local charter schools with a traditional calendar in Wake County. The ATC will be helping with the inaugural year and helping launch the athletic training program. The Athletic Trainer must perform within their scope of practice and the signed protocol by the partnering physician. ATC is required to follow both state and national requirements, ethics and laws, all coverage responsibilities must be in compliance with NCHSAA and state/county requirements. Position is employed by EPIC and contracted with American Leadership Academy to work directly with the Athletic Director of each school. There is no teaching requirement but will be an option for additional pay. This is not an all inclusive summary of the job title.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Establish an effective athletic training program for the high school athletics and occasional middle school coverage
- Establishing and following sport specific and venue specific protocols to ensure proper conditioning, return to sport and EAP specifics.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation for all treatment and injuries as well as communications
- Comply with all HIPAA and OSHA standards
- Provide coverage at home events and practices from the beginning of the fall sport season to the conclusion of the spring season.
- Maintain a direct line of contact with EPIC Physical Therapy business supervisor and the designated orthopedic practice and athletic director
- Complete ordering and stocking for necessary inventory for the safety of the school athletes
- Communicate clearly with parents for precautions, things to look out for, and the condition of each athlete/injury.
- Coordinate the annual required athletic physicals and IMPACT testing, supervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during the sport seasons within appropriate time frames
- Maintain communication with parents on the care & treatment of their student-athlete.
- Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up to date inventory.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate the hours of the athletics at the school. This job will require physical and time demands standard in athletic training. Some night and weekend work will be required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a CAATE accredited college or university
- Maintain current state licensure in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners
- Maintain current certification and continuing education requirements required to maintain licensure and certification.
- Maintain current certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care.
- Job related experience within a middle school / high school setting is preferred.
