Overview:
GM Financial is targeting significant growth as it transforms the Protection/Insurance Products into a full captive platform. Our team is responsible for bringing the branded General Motors F&I products to market and we work hands on with our dealer partners to improve performance in their F&I department. In order to provide the most competitive products and business insights, we are building advanced data and analytics capabilities. Do you enjoy being innovative and working in agile methods? This AVP Data and Analytics will collaborate with data engineers and stakeholders across functional boundaries to apply agile methods for design, development, and deployment of cloud-based data solutions. The position is responsible for delivering and leading all aspects of advanced analytics and reporting for the GM Protection business unit within GM Financial. Hybrid work environment – up to three days in office.
Responsibilities:
JOB DUTIES
  • Deliver data engineering solutions using agile methods and standards set by the organization
  • Maintaining the product/team backlog, leading backlog prioritization of initiatives
  • Translate business requirements for agile team members to implement
  • Collaborate across technical and business functions to ensure alignment on business requirements, desired solutions, development methods, technical standards, and other considerations that relate to solution delivery cost, time, quality, and riskDevelop and maintain, as required, complex production and ad hoc management reports, using appropriate tools
  • Work collaboratively with the Program/Product Managers to advise on the creation of data road map initiatives that result in driving the business forward through new insights
  • Partner with vendor(s) and internal departments to ensure tasks are defined and documented with timely deliverables and within SLA
  • Establish and utilize data engineering performance metrics for data quality, timeliness, security, compliance, and other related matters
  • Continually refine, improve and automate processes, and reports
  • Develop and maintain, as required, complex production and ad hoc management reports and data models for GM Protection Dividends reporting
  • Develop relationships with key customer business and technical decision makers: drive long-term cloud data adoption within the company; enable cloud data advocacy
  • Implement data visualization tools for business partners to aid in decision making and measure performance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of data engineering, cloud data architecture and related policies, standards, and best practices
  • Working knowledge delivering large data engineering projects using Agile methods
  • Working knowledge of APIs and web services (integrate systems, platforms and data sources)
  • Thorough knowledge, training and skills in analysis/reporting software tools such as Power BI, Cognos, SQL, , SF.com, etc
  • Experience in automotive finance and/or auto F&I business preferred

  • Ability to collaborate and influence decisions with internal business/technical stakeholders and external vendors on complex enterprise cloud data and platform strategies
  • Ability to promote agile methods and to develop partnerships with leaders, peers, Release Train Engineers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, architects, and other agile roles
  • Software development practices like, DevOps and CI/CD tool chains, Azure DevOps, GitHub
  • Programming in one or more of the following programming languages; Python, Scala, SAS, R, Ruby, Java and C
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Master’s Degree preferred
Experience
  • 5-7 years experience in building data environments required
  • 1-3 years experience with agile methodologies required
  • 5-7 years management or leadership experience required
  • 5-7 years related F&I experience preferred
Working Conditions
  • Hybrid work environment – up to three days in office
  • Some travel may be required to support business needs
  • Normal office environment
  • Strong focus on providing quality service to internal and external customer
