The Jackson Convention Complex is situated in the center of Mississippi’s capital city and the heart of Southern hospitality. The Complex boasts 330,000 square-foot of space that includes 60,000 square feet of exhibit space, 25 meeting rooms, a 382-seat theater, and the 25,000 square-foot Grand Ballroom.

Summary:

The duties and responsibilities of a Banquet Server are generally to provide exceptional customer service throughout the entire event process to ensure the highest standard of customer satisfaction. The followings are a list of requirements:

Responsibilities of this Position:

• Present in professional appearance and mannerisms.
• Assist with the complete setup, service (includes tray and beverage service) and breakdown of all banquet events.
• Must be able to focus on the job while standing long periods on their feet and moving about freely, which can include bending, climbing stairs, and carrying items weighing 25-50 pounds.
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and awareness of sanitary practices.
• Anticipate guests’ needs and exceed customer service expectations.
• Maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
• Relay important information about orders, allergies, and special requests to the appropriate person.
• Respond urgently and appropriately to any concerns.
• Requires ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours
• Good communication is very vital, as is being able to follow directions efficiently given to the banquet server by the Floor Captain, Food and Beverage Manager and the Director of Food and Beverage. A positive attitude while on the job is also essential.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have working knowledge of Food and Beverage operations including catering service standard procedures.
• Experience in a food and beverage along with service skills.

• Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in service-oriented environment.
• Must have ability to follow directions and effectively perform the work.
• Positive, customer service-oriented attitude at all times.
• Strong knowledge of sanitary practices.
• Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks.
• Attention to detail.
