Summary/Objective

Purpose of this position is to interact with the hotel guests and ensure they have a great experience at the bar. A world of opportunity pulls up to your bar with every guest you meet – and you never know who might show up next. As a bartender you are responsible for preparing beverages and providing exceptional food service to property guests whether it be simply at the bar or during events, special events, and other catered functions, as well as any other property hosted event as requested and scheduled.

  • Handle an assigned house bank and follow all cash handling procedures as per hotel standard.
  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations.
  • Assist with inventory and inventory control.
  • Carry out tasks with attention to detail, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Understand the operation of the POS system.
  • Maintains presence behind the bar.
  • Have full knowledge and understanding of the menus.
  • Mixing, garnishing, and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to company specifications.
  • Adhere to all local and national liquor laws.
  • Greet guests in a timely manner and take orders.
  • Check identification of customers to verify they are of legal drinking age.
  • Ensure clean glasses, bar equipment, and working areas.
  • Order and restock bar inventory.
  • Balance the cash register at the start and close of each shift.
  • As part of the bar, we also serve Starbucks hot and cold beverages. Starbucks training will be provided.

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage.
  • Handle a fast past environment.

Work environment

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Hotels operate 24/7 therefore schedules may at times fluctuate based on the needs of the business.
  • Standing, walking, bending, stretching, twist, or lifting as much as 25lbs. throughout your scheduled shift and at times as much as 45lbs. or more (tables, kegs, chairs).
  • Always in uniform and well groomed with name badge and required pins.

Required education and experience

  • Previous bartending experience
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • Must have tips certification and meet state law age requirements for tending bar.
  • High School or GED required
