Location: Desoto, FL

Position Summary

Charlotte Behavioral Health Care has an exciting opportunity to become part a team that is collaborating with the United Way for the Quality Child Care Initiative in DeSoto County. This program will assist teachers to demonstrate an increased ability to detect/recognize emotional/behavioral disturbances early, to respond with sensitivity, to intervene therapeutically, and to make appropriate referrals. Data will be gathered using identified tools and through observation of the Behavioral Health Support Specialist, and will be reported on a quarterly basis.

The role of the Behavioral Health Support Specialist will be as follows:

  • Provide onsite support to up to four (4) daycare providers in DeSoto County, for children ranging in age from two (2) to four (4), with an emphasis on services to youth age four (4) and up;
  • Act as a consultant and member of the team, and provide coaching and support to teachers, with the goal of equipping teachers to more independently and effectively manage student behaviors;
  • Works as part of the team to increase the number of DeSoto students who are ready to learn and prepared for the K5 environment; and
  • Coordinate referrals for children/families who would benefit from additional services (such as Nurturing Parenting, Parent/Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Family Therapy, etc.).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Human Services or Educational Professional
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in early childhood education or human services work with youth.
  • Must maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct, while adhering to agency policies and procedures
  • Ability to pass Level II Background clearance, drug test (CBHC is a drug free workplace)
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment in collaboration with other community partners.
  • Valid FL driver's license, insurance, and safe driving record.
  • Dependable transportation (registered, safe operating conditions, etc.)
