Job Description

The Behavioral Health Therapist is responsible for facilitating the delivery of quality treatment services through delivery of specific modalities. This position is primarily responsible for providing individual and group counseling to patients and families. In addition, the therapist co-ordinates the recovery planning process for all patients based on interdisciplinary assessments. As a key member in the care of the patient, develops therapeutic relationships based on trust and instills hope for recovery. This position provides person centered care evidenced by choice, respect, dignity, partnerships, self-management, and full inclusion.

Responsibilities

Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the mental health unit as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/significant other in order to address all identified needs. Initiates integration of Interdisciplinary assessments. Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients. Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient's responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs and assure overall quality of care delivered. Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development. Actively seeks out opportunities to grow and develop professionally. Acts as a role model to hospital staff as well as in the community.Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization. May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social work required.
  • BLS through American Heart Association. Non-violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) obtained during orientation.
  • Knowledgeable of all abuse reporting laws and reports as indicated. Knowledge of stages, processes and milestones of normal physical, cognitive, social and emotional development.
