Benefits Administrator (non-leave)

Job Summary:

The Benefits Administrator position is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group non-leave related benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.). Responsible for the administration for all benefit related programs and provides ongoing counsel to employee with benefit issues. Assists in the administration & reporting of the divisional compensation and incentive programs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

 Serve as primary contact for solving employee non leave-related benefits questions to ensure best-in-class customer service for employees and the day to day administration of company benefit policies and procedures.

 Coordinate benefit activities including enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, and Health Savings Account funding.

 Liaise with benefit providers and other internal and external sources to resolve benefit program questions or challenges. Must also comply with HIPAA regulations when requesting or sending such information to providers.

 Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package.

 Benefit systems administration and troubleshooting, ensuring correct setup and access.

 Audit, reconcile and process benefit vendor invoices to ensure accuracy and timely payment.

 Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.

 Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs, increase efficiency and better serve our employees.

 Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.

 Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations and associated reporting.

 Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and coordinate with payroll to update employee payroll records.

 Audit the accuracy and performance of functions performed by benefits partners and perform plan audits.

 Complete benefits surveys and review information obtained from the results.

 Support the annual Open Enrollment process with system set up & testing, communication materials and distribution, and employee support.

 Provide continuous communication of new benefits or changes to existing benefits to HR Team members and all employees

Required Skills/Abilities:

 Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint; capability to navigate HRIS and benefits databases.

 Strong verbal, written and organization communication skills.

 Demonstrate integrity and high standards by managing information and data in a highly confidential and professional manner.

 Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.

 Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.

 Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.

Education and Experience:

 Bachelors degree in human resource management or related field, and one to five years of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience.

 SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and CEBS professional designations preferred.

Physical Requirements:

 Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

 Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual base hourly range: $54,000 - $60,000
  • Bonus target range: 5%
