This Opportunity:
The primary responsibilities of the Benefit Verification Specialist are verifying benefits of established individuals and updating information in agency's electronic health record. They will perform a variety of administrative tasks to ensure that individual’s financial information is accurate.
What You'll Do:
- Verify benefits through insurance portals of individuals to ensure insurance is accurate and updated in the EHR
- Makes outbound calls to insurance companies to verify eligibility of benefits
- Enter and update new and established individuals’ information in electronic health record
- Enters new MCO enrollments and client updates for individuals to reflect accurate payor source to ensure payment recoupment
- Makes outbound calls to individuals to educate, request, and obtain income verification documents (W2, paystubs, award letters, etc.) and scan into the individual’s chart
- Completes the Sliding Fee Scale form in the EHR
- Collect appropriate copays and payments on accounts, coordinating with billing department on collections and balancing payments as needed
- Complete annual registrations for established individuals to update annual items such as Trillium attestation form, psychiatric advanced directive, profile picture, annual family size/income information, MCO updates/enrollments, demographic information, and insurance verification
- Schedule appointments with individual and enter information into appropriate staff schedule as needed
- Ensure appropriate notification is sent to staff as required
- Ensure self-pay established individuals are provided with a good faith estimate and form completed in the EHR
- Maintain trainings as required and requested
- Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and assist in crisis situations
- Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures
- Complete all other relevant responsibilities assigned by the supervisor
- Driving and travel may be required
