Biomedical Specialist

A food/beverage manufacturer in Iowa is seeking a Biomedical Specialist to join their team. The key function of this role is to build partnerships based on a mutual passion for developing quality products. This position will partner with customers by training quality control staff, ordering and procuring product, auditing facilities, and addressing customer concerns.

This position will be based out of Central Iowa and will require approximately 30% travel to neighboring states based on seasonal needs.

Requirements:

• Minimum of a Bachelors in Animal Science, Animal Agriculture, Meat Science, or Veterinary Science
• Comfortability in a meat harvesting/slaughter facility
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Passion for teaching and training
• Audit experience is a plus
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong understanding of animal anatomy

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Identify and resolve issues in product quality, documentation of orders, and training quality staff
• Develop strategies to maintain compliance with all food safety and regulatory standards
• Maintain team training records and FSIS forms
• Train facilities in the collection and processing of animal tissue per customer requirements
• Maintain relationships with customers through communication, respect, kindness, and humility
• Interview prospective biomedical technicians
• Manage all aspects of biomedical tech team members
• Coordinate and plan internal audits and participate in ISO 9001 audits
• Make necessary changes based on audit recommendation
• Ensure ISO 9001 systems is enforced and maintained to stay in compliance
