Employees are eligible for a $1,500 retention payment for a commitment of 7 pay periods (14 weeks) and are eligible for renewal at the end of each 7 pay periods until the facility closes. Speak to the hiring manager for more information on eligibility.
Provide a variety of diagnostic, evaluative, assessment, therapeutic, and behavior modification/management services to persons with intellectual, developmental, psychiatric, and/or Medical disorders. This may involve interviewing and observing individuals; reviewing and incorporating collateral data; conducting functional assessments and analyses; conducting preference assessments, diagnostic and adaptive screenings, and quality of life measures; writing behavioral and Individual Service Plan (ISP) reports; providing individual and group therapy; and maintaining appropriate documentation.
Develop Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and linked skill development programs that are consistent with regulations of Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disorders (ICF-ID); promote independence and psychological flexibility; further skill development; and reduce behaviors that are barriers to the person’s values, goals, and ability to live in a less restrictive environment. Manage BSPs by ensuring they are congruent with the person’s other needs, services, and supervision level, and updated regularly as the person’s needs and functioning change.
Participate on interdisciplinary teams and committees. This includes attending interdisciplinary team meetings and assigned committees and providing input for ongoing coordination and planning; consulting with other team members to assess issues and functions of behavior; providing information regarding psychological or situational issues unique to individuals served; and participating in psychiatric consultations and medication reviews. Participation shall involve advocacy for and education about scientifically-supported and effective procedures to respond to the unique psychiatric and behavioral needs of individual residents.
Present BSPs and related psychological or clinical information to review committees, the individual and their guardian, and community providers. Provide competency-based training and consultation about the BSP and related topics to facility staff and community providers.
Complete other duties as requested or assigned, such as completing emergency assignments; accompanying residents on special or off-campus events as requested; providing support to persons during behavioral or emotional crises; presenting at conferences, meetings, or events; providing agency in-service training; and providing consultation to stakeholder agencies.
Maintain professional competency and skill development to ensure that psychological services rendered are high quality and consistent with best practices. This may include attending professional meetings and conferences (as authorized), and staying abreast of current trends and advances in the fields of psychology and behavioral analysis.
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm plus evenings and weekends as assigned.

Please Note: Under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS’s) new vaccine mandate for healthcare workers (published on November 5, 2021 and affirmed by the United States Supreme Court on January 13, 2022), all potential employees of this facility must have received, at a minimum, the first dose of a primary series or a single dose vaccine OR have an approved religious or medical exemption (as determined by the agency) OR have documentation reflecting a temporary delay in vaccination (as determined by the agency in accordance with CDC allowances), prior to the start date. Master’s degree in psychology and one year professional psychology experience
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctorate degree in psychology, behavior analysis, or counseling.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in psychology, behavior analysis, or counseling, and experience equal to two years of full-time clinical work in the provision of counseling and therapy in an institutional or community mental health, intellectual disability, long-term care, or correctional program.
- Possession of a license to practice psychology from the Iowa Board of Psychology.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes twelve months of full-time work as a Psychologist 1.
- Designated positions at the Glenwood and Woodward Resource Centers require certification with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, or require such certification within a period of time after hire as determined by the appointing authority.
- Designated positions may require licensure by the Iowa Board of Psychology Examiners, as determined by the appointing authority.
