Title: Bookkeeper - New Orleans, LA
Latter & Blum Property Management is a growing property management company based in New Orleans and currently have an opening for a Bookkeeper at one of our satellite locations in Uptown New Orleans. We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper who has excellent accounting, customer servie, communication and organizational skills. Prior experience in property management is also preferred. Salary is negotiable, depending upon experience.
Job Purpose
The Bookkeeper is responsible for completing accounting duties for our single-family division. They are also responsible for carrying out property financial reporting responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
- Ensure that transactions are recorded to the correct properties
- Work closely with our payroll company to ensure accurate pay for employees
- Pay agent commissions timely as they arise
- Process a high volume of vendor invoices and tenant rent receipts
- Enter data as needed for accurate property record maintenance
- Assist in producing or issuing financial reports monthly or as needed
- Timely research and respond to transaction inquiries by agents, property managers, and owners
- Special projects as assigned
- Perform such other accounting, financial or administrative tasks as may be required.
Qualifications
- Degree in accounting, finance, or business related field preferred, not required.
- Bookkeeping experience of 2 years minimum, with property management experience preferred.
- Experience with high volume accounts payable.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
- Attention to detail and troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
- Successfully worked in a fast-paced, quick-change environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Word.
- Experience with YARDI and AppFolio property management software preferred, or a demonstrated history of adapting to various property and accounting software applications.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with peers, managers and clients.
- Dependability & flexibility with willingness to work the hours necessary, especially for meeting department deadlines.
- Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
