The role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Brand & Design Art Director to join our Nuts.com team to help drive the evolution and elevation of our digital brand presence across digital properties and marketing channels. This individual will report to the Creative Director and lead the design team through the concept, design, and execution of digital visuals used in online advertising channels.

They must be able to understand the design implications on business, and balance both the art and the science of how to optimize Commerce, Content, Social Media, and Paid Media. An analytical and strategic thinker is required to identify new opportunities as well as analyze the performance of current programs.

This person will be responsible for all aspects of brand design from Brand ID work to design aspects of every consumer touchpoint. They will oversee our core brand (Nuts.com) as well as our evolving brand in gifting, b2b, and future distribution channels.

*This position can either be a temp to perm or a full time permanent position*

What you'll do:

  • Partner with the brand agency on translating brand architecture into brand ID and act as the protector of the brand.
  • Lead and mentor a team of designers through projects that may include email campaigns, website graphic design (desktop and mobile), social media content, digital marketing ads, and digital style guides.
  • Audit, update, and maintain the brands' visual style guides including typography, iconography, and layout standards to be easily leveraged by the internal design team as well as external agency partners and vendors. Attention to detail and a passion for design aid in keeping current with market best practices and trends to inform the evolving style guide.
  • Facilitate group reviews and scheduling with the internal team and partners to meet review checkpoints. Proactive communication skills with the team to keep deliverables on track and best in class. Raise the visibility of creative work in larger organizations through regular reviews and results sharing.
  • Collaborate with brand/program partners, the UX team, channel partners, and project managers in the execution of design projects that bridge quality creative with strategy.
  • Active participation and confident presentation style encourage engagement and elevate the creative team's representation within the organization as trusted experts and collaborative partners.
  • Strong ability to integrate design with strategy, working with the Creative Director and SVP of Marketing to ensure work achieves the brand and business goals and objectives. Design decisions are supported with evidence, insights, and rationale beyond the aesthetic.
  • Solutions-oriented thinker and partner capable of following established processes while looking for opportunities to develop systems for workflow and design efficiencies across the team and channels.
  • Constantly strive for better, more innovative solutions across all media channels. Understand data and analytics and turn them into action and assets.
  • Proactively track trends in culture, design, and paid media
  • Must have a strong understanding of the social experience of all major ad platforms including Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest, and understand best practices in creative optimization.
  • Oversee content calendar across all channels in partnership with the SVP of marketing and creative PM.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously in the fast-paced, ever-evolving e-commerce landscape.

What you'll bring:

  • BA or BFA required
  • 10+ years of work-related experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop,
  • Deep knowledge across multiple social platforms with proven ability to quickly adapt to emerging technologies
  • Ability to work assertively and comfortably with a variety of people across various disciplines
  • Deep understanding of online and social media design
  • Superior organizational and management skills
  • Ability to manage, direct and inspire other team members
  • Understanding of paid social platforms and the creative outlets required to activate optimize them
  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment and turn around superior creative work in extremely limited timelines
  • Excellent typographic skills
  • E-commerce experience required, including digital marketing
  • Brand design and re-design experience are required
  • Previous experience in photography art direction is required
  • Knowledge and practice of filmmaking, animation, and writing are a plus
  • Is self-motivated and resourceful with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Experience in food is a bonus, especially in a food photography art direction
