Position: Bus Monitor/Food Service Aide

Position Summary: The Bus Monitor/Food Service Aide is responsible to assist the Driver on route with various duties to maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment when children are in our care. The Bus Monitor/Food Service Aide is responsible to assist in the planning, implementation, and organization of daily experiences for children. The Bus Monitor/Food Service Aide will assist in preparing nutritional snacks and meals for the Head Start Program and will abide by all local health and sanitation regulations. The Bus Monitor/Food Service Aide should function in this position in a professional manner at all times and conduct activities to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, ODJFS child care licensing rules, and ODE content standards.

Qualifications/Expectations:

· Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.

· Minimum of 6 months’ work experience in an early childhood program required.

· Must possess good organization skills involving consistency, flexibility and structure.

· Must possess adequate written and verbal communication skills

· Must have an understanding and awareness of the needs of low-income families, and be sensitive to individual differences.

· Must have good physical and emotional stamina.

· Must have the ability to lift / carry up to 50 pounds.

· Must work with all staff and families in a professional manner.

· Must be able and willing to accept and share additional responsibilities to achieve team goals.

· Must be familiar with all transportation and licensing safety policies, regulations & procedures.

· Must maintain a safe, clean & healthy bus environment.

· Must demonstrate an appropriate professional demeanor and appearance at all times.

Beginning Salary: $13.97 per hour

Work Schedule: 32 hours per week / 40 weeks per year

Job Type: Full-time
