The Business Development Associate is an entry level position on the Business Development Team. This position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Deputy Director, Business Development.

Position Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, political science, international relations or related field.
  • 0-2 years of professional experience preferably in business development and/or seeking and pursuing funding in the international development field.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.
  • Experience working with budgets and budget drafting preferred.
  • Excellent writing, research and oral communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills including analysis of financial data. Ability to consolidate data for presentation and reporting purposes.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail under multiple tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills including ability to work with multiple teams and work under pressure.
  • Experience working with USG-funded proposal development and/or projects is preferred.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating process management - scheduling Go/No-Go, Kick-Off Meetings, and other relevant proposal development meetings.
  • Responsible for creating proposal sites, organizing folders and uploading templates
  • Support the team as requested with research for capture phase: on competition and related funder projects.
  • Research capture and funding opportunities from USG and other donors
  • Update proposal tracker with relevant information when decisions are made (Go, No-Go, Pending, Awarded, Rejected, etc.).
  • Support proposal teams in completing non-technical proposal components, particularly annexes and attachments, in response to donor policies, being imbedded on regional teams as necessary.
  • Liaise with Human Resources on recruiting and staff documentation as necessary.
  • Collect and tailor Past Performance References.
  • Collect and tailor partner Letter of Commitments.
  • Collect personnel information (letters of commitment, resumes, bio-data).
  • Assist in the collection and integration of partner (international or local) inputs for completeness and compliance.
  • Updates business development databases and contact lists.
  • Maintains intranet project site and documents.
  • Provides logistical and administrative support for DC trainings, meetings and events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

Required
  • Less than 2 year(s): 0-2 years of professional experience preferably in business development and/or seeking and pursuing funding in the international development field.

Education

Required
  • Bachelors or better in Political Science or related field
