Frontier-Kemper/Tutor Perini, Joint Venture is seeking qualified candidates for Business Manager at our Westside Purple Line Section 3 Project in Los Angeles, California.

The Joint Venture will perform the design and construction of 2.6 miles of twin-bored tunnels and 14 cross passages. This project is part of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Metro Purple Line Subway Extension. The Business Manager is responsible for all accounting and administrative activities related to accounts payable, general and cost accounting, job cost reporting, payroll, purchasing, and human resources. The Business Manager is also responsible for field office records management, other duties, as assigned by the Project Manager, Construction Manager or by the Business Unit Controller, and coordinates with home office personnel on project business matters. The execution of these tasks shall comply with and follow established Company policies and procedures. The Project Business Manager reports to the Project Manager, but also has a direct line reporting responsibility to the Business Unit Controller and Chief Financial Officer.

The essential functions of the position are:

  • Produce financial information for monthly review and reporting including Control Budgets, Cost Accounting and Cost & Cash forecasting, Progress Estimates
  • Responsible for Purchase orders, vendor set ups, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Contract and Subcontract Administration.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with certified payrolls, and/or other state reporting requirements
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly payroll reports for management
  • Maintain and update payroll records; maintain employee project personnel files
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Eight (8) years of related experience preferably in a heavy construction industry in a similar role
  • Five (5) years in supervisory/managerial position
  • Ability to perform routine office functions with major emphasis on handling accounts payables, job costs, and payroll
  • Ability to learn general JD Edwards operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, especially Excel
  • Self-motivated team player
  • Strong organization, managerial, and good interpersonal skills
  • Good phone and office skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
