Do you have expertise in, and passion for Medical Affairs in Oncology? AstraZeneca US Medical Affairs Oncology is looking for a Business Process Optimization (BPO) Lead will lead a cross-functional effort responsible for developing and improving the operating principles and ways of working for the US Medical Affairs team in the Oncology Business Unit.

What you'll do

• The BPO Lead will have full accountability, in collaboration with Medical Affairs Leadership Team, for systematically evaluating operating processes, developing plans for streamlining and improving operating efficiency, while ensuring operational effectiveness and efficiencies through a continuous improvement approach.
• Lead the design and implementation of robust, future focused business processes to ensure effective collaboration and compliance of the US Medical Affairs organisation driving the promotion of vertical and horizontal integrational needs across a complex matrix organisation.
• Create and develop integrated strategies, evaluate and assess existing business processes, with particular focus on mapping and prioritizing against the USMA goals.
• Curate, evaluate, recommend and administer tools and systems to improve our operating procedures and ways of working, across USMA HQ and Field, applying LEAN methodology principles where appropriate.
• Design, evaluate and assess KPIs for implementation and make recommendations and adjustments as needed.
• Propose a path forward to implement a continuous process improvement program, for each process, including documentation of processes and maintenance of historical records.

What you need

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management or life sciences
• 3+ years’ experience in business improvement and performance excellence
• Extensive experience with project management tools and processes
• Experience in re-imagining business process, tools and implementing change management
• Experience in implementing and managing continuous improvement processes
• Effective and collaborative matrix management skills with a focus on guiding diverse groups (e.g., cultural, geographical, functional) to achieve excellent results in shared goals
• Strong communication skills with the ability to distil complexity down to what matters to our stakeholders
• Strong Financial/Budget Management and Project Management skills
• Strong business acumen

Nice to have

• Advanced degree (Masters or MBA) in business management, operations, organizational design or life science
• Lean Six Sigma Experience
• Project Management Professional certification
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
