The Buyer is responsible for overseeing and managing processes related to the Global sourcing and purchasing of products
with little or no supervision. This is accomplished through building relationships with suppliers, ensuring world
class vendor delivery, negotiating cost, inventory optimization and developing agreements that ultimately help
Dexter grow and become more profitable. In addition, this role is a support function for new product launch
initiatives while developing and implementing cost reduction and sourcing strategies, leading to improved quality,
technology and timely delivery performance. As the Dexter Purchasing/Sourcing Specialist you will drive:
forecasts, report economic savings performance, negotiate price reductions, and long term agreements.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all processes related to global sourcing and purchasing of products and commodities.
- Lead supplier evaluation, selection, and sourcing for assigned commodities.
- Implements supply base management strategies that lead to lowest total cost in terms of quality, lead time,
- Supports/Leads the selection of suppliers, negotiates and maintains performance to expectations plus
- Forecasts/reports monthly performance of material economics/cost saving objectives; identify and advise
- Proactively foster internal cross -functional relationships in order to drive regional and global strategies for
- Negotiate, implement and manage LTA's (long term agreements) while achieving commercial savings and
while supporting organizational initiatives.
- Accomplish forward buying analysis to ensure accurate business forecasting and product projection
Qualifications and Job Demands
- Bachelor degree and 3 years of Purchasing experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, negotiation skills, analytical and problem-solving skills,
- Ability to work as a team within purchasing, other functions, and with other locations worldwide
- Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge/experience of raw material analysis and tracking systems
- Experience in analyzing, selecting/recommending, approving and auditing suppliers for different product
- Strong negotiation background with knowledge of corporate purchasing practices and strategies that bring
organizational/departmental goals.
- Experience developing and implementing commodity strategies.
- Proven experience in mitigating supplier delivery, cost, and relationship issues with positive outcome for the
- Ability to facilitate and lead technical and commercial meetings that require multiple cross functional
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration
- Certified in Production and Inventory Management
- Certified Supply Chain Professional
- Lean/6Sigma Certification (i.e., Green Belt, etc.)
