Persistent Systems is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in the design of electronics systems and packaging solutions. The Mechanical Engineer will have various responsibilities including product design, process design, and quality control for our Wave Relay® products.

Position Responsibilities

• Develop concept, assembly level layout, and detail design documentation with necessary supporting documentation and analysis
• Generate correct form, fit, and function of designs
• Design mechanical enclosures for electronic devices including internal cable harnesses
• Design cable harnesses including wiring schematics and proper EMI shielding
• Produce design models, drawing details, assembly drawings, and associated engineering documentation with 3D parametric modeling software
• Identify appropriate tolerances and GD&T to satisfy the design requirement and manufacturing
• Use mechanical engineering principles and concepts to solve problems related to product development, manufacturing, and design
• Provide input into applicable sections of project plans and work to execute tasks to plan
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required
• Work together with principal designers and engineers to develop designs and solutions
• Create, edit, and manage drawings in controlled document database
• Lead, support, and facilitate preventative and corrective quality actions
• Conduct both mechanical and electrical verification testing
• Lead, support, and facilitate transfer to production of new product, materials and/or processes

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.100-200 Engineering Drawing Practices
• 4 years of experience with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent 3D modeling programs
• At least 1 year of experience with designing parts for manufacture/fabrication
• Experience in the design of electronics enclosures
• Knowledge of methods of fabrication including EDM, casting, and injection molding
• Experience with measuring devices such as test apparatus, data collection systems, gauges, micrometers, and optical comparators
• Experience with material selection including fasteners, torque, and environmental seal
• Must have a US security clearance or the ability to obtain a US security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with designing for environmental MIL-STD-810 and EMI performance MIL-STD-461
• ISO9001:2008 quality system experience (operations, procedures, documentation)
