CAD Drafter-Entry Level

Michael Weinig Inc, the industry leading provider of wood processing machinery, has an excellent opportunity for a full-time entry level CAD Drafter in our Grinding Services Department. In this role you will interface with our customers to assist in the design of custom moulder knives used in our wood processing machinery. Communicating with each customer in a friendly, fast and accurate manner with the ultimate goal of total customer satisfaction.

If you have a strong mechanical drafting skills, a customer service background, are mechanically inclined and enjoy working in a dynamic team environment this is the role for you.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Direct contact with customers to assist in providing tooling drawings allowing for production of moulder/ planner knives.
• Deliver outstanding service to Grinding Service customers by providing timely responses and follow through on quotes and orders.
• Prepare specialized quotes including CAD Drawing of custom knives, quote and applicable order forms.
• Design custom knives / tooling using CAD to meet customer’s profiles and requirements.
• Creation of templates using CNC Template Makers.
• Schedule pending orders with Grinding Service staff, ensuring timely upkeep of order entries and coordination with production team.

Job Requirements:

• Proficient in CAD, preferably TURBO CAD, Word Office (Excel, Access)
• Mechanically inclined with the ability and willingness to learn basics of new technical subjects.
• Ability to communicate with co-workers, management, customers and others in a courteous and professional manner.
• Must be a creative problem solver that is solutions oriented, focused and attentive to customer needs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate and interact with others and communicate technical concepts.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain an orderly work environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and identify work priorities is a must.
• Strong computer navigation skills and PC Knowledge.
• Dependable with strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience with SAP or JD Edwards strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of woodworking machinery.
• Working knowledge of tool manufacturing

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
