Café Servers

Bishop Gadsden Retirement Community (James Island, SC) is seeking enthusiastic, service oriented Café Servers to provide exceptional interactive service to our resident customers in our Market Place Café. The Market Place Café offers several food station and buffet meal options in a relaxed food court like environment. We offer flexible part-time and full-time opportunities!

Responsibilities

• Set up café for meal service
• Serve customers, primarily Bishop Gadsden residents, staff, and guests during operating hours
• Work with kitchen staff to ensure proper food handling, presentation, and quality
• Maintain cleanliness of the dining room areas
• Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely, and professional manner
• Potential handling of cash register, ensuring accurate charges to residents and staff

Qualifications

• At least eighteen (18) years of age
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand, comprehend and communicate English
• Professional appearance and attitude for daily interaction with residents, families, coworkers, and public. Excellent personal hygiene, uniform complete and in model condition daily
• Ability to multi-task and deal with multiple customers at the same time
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend reach, squat, climb, reach above head, carry, and lift (up to 50 pounds /-) Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous line serving and minimal cooking experience preferred
• Prior working experience and/or interacting with an elderly population preferred
