Capacity Procurement Representative is an entry-level role geared towards individuals interested in starting a career in logistics. This position is responsible for working with partner carriers to perform track and trace functions on all freight shipments.

Capacity Procurement Representative responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Make outbound calls on loads that have a check call set in the system to obtain the status of the load
  • Document the status of all loads with the results of the calls made into transportation management software
  • Maintain contact with carriers and internal business partners to ensure the shipper and consignee are aware of any challenges or issues that may arise
  • Escalate any issues that are abnormal to the proper CPE or Supervisor on duty
  • Provide professional and courteous customer care to the company’s carrier base
  • Work with partner carriers to determine the status of loads and facilitate on-time delivery of orders
  • Monitor email on an ongoing basis for communications from the CPE team regarding order status as well as communications from the carrier regarding load
  • Support the strategic objectives of the business
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Leadership

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school Diploma or GED required
  • Basic transportation or logistics knowledge a plus
  • Basic knowledge of the following modes of transportation a plus: dry van, expedited, flatbed, oversized loads, refrigerated and intermodal
  • Have the drive, assertiveness, passion, and dedication to succeed in the logistics industry
  • Ability to work independently while supporting an overall team mentality
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • Ability to work in a blended role of operations and sales in an office environment
  • Manage complex transactional or emotional customer situations promptly and professionally
  • Ability to handle and prioritize high call volumes and customer’s inquiries
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
