Care Economy Organizing Project
The Cares Economy Project is focused on building statewide power to address issues related to a statewide coalition of
Parents and Ch founded in Cincinnati that has worked and won on economic and racial justice issues including child care, immigration reform, criminal justice reform and protecting the social safety net for low income families. Amos is the faith based organizing project of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative.
Care Economy Digital Community Organizing Fellow
The CEO Project seeks a faith based community organizer to work with congregations and community members to fight for quality public schools for every kid. The Fair Funding Plan (currently Ohio - HB1) will strengthen all our communities, expand opportunities for those who have been excluded and finally fix the illegal way our state funds public education.
The campaign organizing fellow will be working to activate parents, community members and clergy in a coalition to pass the Fair Funding Plan.
Candidates should be comfortable working with diverse people of faith across religious backgrounds and denominations.
Ideally, candidates will have personal or professional experience within faith communities. This person should be committed to learning the CEO organizing model, build relationships and teams within congregations and will recruit community leaders to join the campaign for fully and fairly funded schools.
Required Skills & Abilities The Organizer is a self-motivated and detail-oriented critical thinker with a strong track record of successfully and concurrently managing a variety of initiatives. S/he is committed to the principles of social justice, has a leadership background, and knows how to manage a large volume of relationships and solve problems quickly and efficiently. An OOC Organizer possesses strong planning and organizational skills, strong time management skills, strong relational and interpersonal skills, and strong written and oral communication skills. Ideally, s/he has at least one year of related organizing experience and is proficient in office and database software, and social media platforms.
Job Responsibilities
● Organizer is able to work effectively with diverse staff, leaders, partners, and the general public.
● Works closely with the team and supervisor to develop and implement campaign and work plan.
● Able to work with leaders across race, class, and gender to align different interests towards the common goal of building community power to improve education outcomes
● Identifies and develops community power building relationships with a broad leadership base of grassroots groups, faith-based institutions, and social/economic justice advocates.
● Works with grassroots groups and leaders to recruit people into building volunteer teams, educate and motivate people to take action
● Recruiting leaders to tell their stories and provide quotes for press releases, reports, social media, and other communications materials as necessary

● Trains grassroots leaders and groups in policy and messaging about the Fair Funding Plan.
● Organizes [a] outreach activities with volunteers including canvassing, phone/texting banking, and tabling, [b] leadership development and organizing activities such as trainings, leadership and committee meetings, and
[c] large-scale public actions including community conversations, town halls, public meetings, and direct actions
● Attend and actively participate in team and coalition meetings, meet regularly with supervisor, submit all reports in a timely manner, and attend training as required
● Has some understanding of the intersection between race, class, and gender’s effect on socio economic policy and believes in progressive values
● Performs all other related duties and responsibilities as required

Position Details The CEO Digital Organizer is a full-time salaried position. A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is preferred but persons meeting the skills listed above should still apply. The organizer must possess a cell phone, an Ohio driver’s license and have access to a reliable automobile. In-state travel is required. Some weekend and evening hours will be required. Work-related expenses are reimbursed according to policy. Physical requirements include frequent standing, walking, ability to sit in meetings and lift moderate weight for supplies.
Classification Ohio Organizing Collaborative recognizes a staff bargaining unit with the Ohio Organizing Collaborative
Staff Union/UE 719. This position is included in the Ohio Organizing Colloborative's bargaining unit and covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Experience and Salary Range Previous experience is preferred but not required. People with more organizing experience should still apply and can be considered for Lead Organizer. Entry-level organizer salaries start at $45,000 and can be increased commensurate with experience.
