Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) is a Department of Defense program designed to assist military spouses and surviving spouses with education and career planning. SECO services are accessed and branded through the Military OneSource (MOS) program. MOS is the branded Employee Assistance Program for DoD military beneficiaries.


Certified career counselors in the MOS Spouse Career Center provide education and career counseling services to all military spouses associated with the following four Spouse Education and Career Opportunities life cycle stages: career exploration; education, training, and licensing; employment readiness; and career connections.


You will be part of a large, geographically dispersed team that works closely with Serco program management team and other Serco teams to deliver quality services to our military/government customer and military spouses.


In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Receiving initial calls from Participants, via live hand-off from MOS, during SECO Spouse Career Center office hours
  • Providing information and referral services to Participants
  • Scheduling career consultations for in-depth counseling with a SECO Career Coach; and manage incoming live chats from Participants.
  • Other duties may be assigned

To be successful in this role, you will have:


Required Qualifications
:

  • Must be a United States (US) Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a favorable National Agency Check (NACI) (Desired – Active NACI)
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree and at least four (4) years of experience in education, career, or employment counseling.
  • Must be able to obtain other similar credential subject to government approval or the ability to demonstrate certification within six months of hire.
  • Must be able to travel in order to accomplish mission goals to include evenings and weekends with the ability to use all modes of transportation.
  • Must be able to access to US Government facilities and systems.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation to travel to assigned locations and nearby facilities
  • Must have the flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed in order to properly serve and assist clients. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there is minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions; Job assignments may require working at client site where working conditions may vary.
  • Must be able to articulates and understand basic evaluation techniques and use of customer feedback to improve overall program effectiveness/impact.
  • Must be able to demonstrates the ability to manage multiple priorities, illustrates attention to detail, and shows evidence of being conscientious regarding deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with remotely located team members.
  • Must have a strong command of the English language, both in writing and oral presentation.
  • Must be able Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) and Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. ET.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current credential issued by one of the following: the National Association for Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP)-Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) credential; the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)- National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential; the National Career Development Association (NCDA)-Certified Career Counselor (CCC); other similar credential subject to government approval
  • Five (5) years of experience working with a military or DoD organization(s), knowledge of military lifestyle through personal and/or professional experience - in depth understanding about the military culture and the command structure.
  • Military leadership experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple priorities, illustrates attention to detail, and shows evidence of being conscientious regarding deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with remotely located team members.
  • A current DoD Secret Level Security Clearance is preferred.
