PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

This position ensures the efficiency of the recruitment process and the quality screening of community members who wish to become volunteers with the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program of Pima County. The incumbent will support applicants through the application and screening process until they reach pre-service training, and participate in recruitment events as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides exemplary customer service, expeditiously and professionally, to all parties inquiring about the CASA program. Answers phone calls and responds to emails of interested individuals.
  • Processes CASA volunteer applications as directed by the supervisor. Enters applicant information into computer-based filing systems and data-bases to ensure volunteer applicants move through the process efficiently.
  • Conducts initial screening and in-depth interviews of CASA volunteer applicants to determine their appropriateness and/or readiness for the program.
  • Partners with the CASA Program Coordinator - Recruiter to increase the number of volunteers. Establishes priorities, meets deadlines, and makes appropriate recommendations for operational improvements as related to support the volunteer recruitment.
  • Collaborates with the CASA Program Coordinator - Recruiter to represent the CASA program by participating in community outreach events and promoting program awareness through a variety of methods such as presentations and fairs.
  • Participates in meetings with the Program Supervisor, CASA Program Coordinator - Recruiter and other program staff to develop and implement public relations, marketing, recruitment, and community outreach/education plans. Attends and participates in CASA staff meetings.
  • Coordinates the background screening process for CASA volunteer applicants to include scheduling their polygraph examination, obtaining their fingerprints, and sending out and following up on references as required by CASA Code and Policy.
  • Works collaboratively with CASA Program Coordinator - Recruiter, CASA of Arizona staff and other community agencies to ensure the public is aware of the volunteer opportunities within CASA of Pima County.
  • In coordination with the CASA Program Supervisor, CASA Program Coordinator - Recruiter, and CASA of Arizona, performs on-going evaluation of the recruitment and screening processes and recruitment and diversity goals of the CASA of Pima County Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a behavioral/social science, business/public management or a related field and one year of work experience in organizational development, human resources, customer service, social services, volunteer management or a related field; OR an Associate's Degree and three years CASA volunteer experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience, education, CASA volunteer experience and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Must have a valid Arizona driver's license at the time of appointment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typically performs duties in an office environment and may lift materials and/or equipment 20 lbs or less.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.68 - $20.33 per hour
