The Case Coordinator will support Case Management and New Business staff in the managing and processing of informal and formal life insurance applications. This may include a variety of administrative and back office functions, including ordering and following up on underwriting and administrative requirements, preparing paperwork, reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy, entering and maintaining accurate data in various systems, communicating case status with internal/external contacts, managing billing and reimbursements, and reporting. This role will provide the opportunity to develop the basic skills and knowledge needed to advance to other New Business positions.
Responsibilities:
- Review applications, policies, communications, or other documents for completeness and accuracy
- Prepare and submit applications for underwriting
- Request and follow up on outstanding underwriting and administrative requirements
- Develop knowledge of specific insurance carrier guidelines, policies and business practices
- Input and review client information and related data in computer systems
- Contact clients, Member Firms, carriers, and vendors as needed to expedite outstanding items
- Keep all applicable parties and systems updated with current and correct case status throughout the process
- Provide backup support for Case Managers and other New Business staff
- Manage the billing and reimbursement of underwriting requirements
- Work with case management, new business, underwriting, and sales support desk teams to develop and maintain both internal and Member Firm facing resources (eg: reference materials, process documentation, etc)
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with life insurance terminology and new business process
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Superior demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent and creative problem-solving skills
- Time management and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
- Willing to enhance education through training and industry education
Job Conditions and Environment:
- Hybrid work environment in Portland, OR offering a blend of virtual/work from home and onsite days designed to support flexibility
- Normal office environment/desk assignment
- Extensive use of PCs, computer terminal, display, keyboard, and mouse
- Extensive close work with documents, publications, databases, and spreadsheets
