Design Group is recruiting for a Category Analyst – this is a remote working opportunity. The Analyst will have a critical role in helping the company and team achieve financial, market share and category growth objectives. They will work independently and collaboratively with internal and external teams. This position requires a close partnership with the Marketing and Sales teams by translating data into actionable information which is used to drive top line sales and margin. The Analyst will participate in external customer sales meetings with the opportunity to deliver analysis and insights. This role has a strong focus on supporting the Target account.
WHAT WILL I DO IN THIS ROLE?
- Function as a consultant to the customer and internal teams.
- Identify opportunities to deliver customer growth through fact-based recommendations and to increase sales and margin.
- Manage retailer POS reporting.
- Mine and analyze data from sources such as: syndicated scanner/panel, retailer POS, and JDA/space planning.
- Complete category analysis on customer programs.
- Complete retailer category reviews utilizing category analysis, shopper insights and analytic tools.
- Develop customer presentations.
- Build long-term relationship with customers through data excellence and trust.
- Travel to customer meetings and present analysis.
WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED?
- Advanced Degree preferred with 3+ years of business analytics and commercial experience.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Retail Link DSS, Partners Online and Merch IQ with the ability to learn space management software (JDA Space Planning).
- Ability to accurately analyze quantitative and qualitative data to uncover observations, insights, and key learnings.
- Ability to develop retailer-specific strategic and tactical recommendations and solutions. Previous experience analyzing retailer-supplied point-of-sale data.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to develop and execute an objective fact-based presentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required for building internal and external relationships and working on a high-performance team.
- Proactive and committed to delivering results in a fast paced, demanding work environment by fostering a sense of urgency, energy, ownership, and a curiosity to search for opportunities.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically.
- Must have the ability to travel within the US and China.
