Position Overview:

We are looking for an Equipment Category Manager to join our team! As a Category Manager at our SiteOne Landscape Supply, you will be responsible for managing an assigned group of products and supporting others.


You will be the one responsible for all aspects of the assigned product group, with an emphasis on organic growth.


Building strong relationships with field sales, who manage 600 branch locations, is critical to success for the Equipment Category Manager. It’s similarly important to develop strong relationships with vendor partners and other departments within SiteOne’s support center. is extremely important for this role. A commercial mindset as well as an ability to interpret consumers' wants and needs and will also be part of your duties.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Will lead our application, renovation, snow and ice and golf equipment business lines across the SiteOne organization
  • Research and analyze data and market insights
  • Search for insights into consumer needs and wants at it pertains to landscape and hardscape equipment
  • Plan and implement long-term development strategies for product categories, including making strong contributions to the larger category’s goals and strategy
  • Design exit strategies for unsuccessful products
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors
  • Utilize and/ or implement the required product support tools and software
  • Advise & ensure timely product availability for customers
  • Strategize positioning of a product category in order to maximize its visibility
  • Collaborate with the marketing team
  • Research competitors and suggest appropriate pricing and promotional activities
  • Work with customers and merchandisers and find new ways of expanding product categories
  • Support purchasing in calculating forecasts for product demand trends
  • Drive both top line and bottom line results of assigned business lines
Skills We Are Seeking::

Requirements:

  • Previous working experience as category manager for 5+ years or related experience OEM or B2B sales experience also a plus
  • A competitive and entrepreneurial spirit to solving business problems, self-driven to succeed
  • A strongly curious personality who works well with a diverse spectrum of vendors, customer and stakeholders
  • Expertise & experience within category or brand management
  • In-depth knowledge of marketing and sales operations and processes
  • Hands on experience with analyzing big data and making forecasts
  • Analytical and critical thinker, customer focused and data driven
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • BA in business administration, engineering, marketing or similar relevant field
