CATERING STAFF
Job Description:
Spartan Catering provides service to the campus community both on and off-site. Events range from small coffee services, buffet luncheons to fully catered black-tie dinners and receptions throughout the SJSU campus.
Some job duties include:
- Preparing equipment for events
- Interacting with clients and guests during set up and service of events
- Preparing beverages and pastry trays
- Polishing china and glassware
- Maintaining cleanliness of work area throughout shift
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- Ability to work efficiently in high volume food service operation.
- Ability to lift and carry loads up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to push catering carts to locations throughout campus in varied weather conditions.
- Outgoing and friendly, customer service attitude.
- Strong organizational, and verbal communication skills with ability to multi-task.
- Must be able to work as a member of a team as well as independently.
- Must pass the California Food Handlers certification test.
- May need to complete a Background Check per University Background Policy.
- Must be able to work at least 12 hours per week.
- Previous customer service or catering experience not required, but preferred.
Hours of Operation:
Hours are scheduled based on the needs of the business and can change from week to week. Students are scheduled according to their availability. Shifts vary in hours and can include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
