Carolina Marine Structures, Inc. is a leading heavy civil marine contractor headquartered in Powells Point, NC with a satellite office in Virginia Beach, VA. We offer a wide range of services and turnkey solutions in marine construction, design, and specialty services on, over, and under the water throughout North Carolina and Virginia.

Due to rapid growth and expansion, Carolina Marine Structures is currently seeking qualified CDL A truck driver immediately for work in Southeastern VA and Northeastern NC. The preferred candidate will have experience working with Landoll Trailers or similar equipment. Wages dependent on experience, reliability and performance. These positions will be based out of our Chesapeake, VA yard.

Responsibilities:

• Drives truck equipped with various configurations of dump body to transport and dump materials such as soil, sand, sludge, mulch, rock, asphalt, or other materials as needed.
• Transport and deliver construction materials to and from projects in a timely manner.
• Makes daily pre/post trip inspections on assigned vehicle and trailer in order to maintain maximum vehicle safety conditions and to check for any damaged or non-working parts.
• Maintains a truck log in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policy.
• Communicates regularly with manager to ensure that delivery schedule is being followed and that any problems with traffic or with site conditions are reported promptly.
• Complies with all aspects of truck maintenance, cleanliness and repair in accordance with the guidelines specified by company policy.
• Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
• Responsible for keeping the truck clean inside and out and in a presentable manor.
• May be responsible for driving a combination of equipment, tractor – lowboy trailer, tractor-flatbed, tractor-oversize/overweight towed equipment.
• Weighs in and out at scales for load ticketing and legal weight compliance.
• Positions blocks and/or tarps to secure load for transit.

Additional responsibilities:

• Maintaining accurate records and logs.
• Ability to recognize miss loads and over loads.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable Federal and State laws, regulations, and company rules and regulations.
• Work well within a team environment.

Driver Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to operate BOTH MANUAL AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS
• Good work ethic and employment history.
• Must be able to read and write English legibly.
• Must keep company equipment clean and well maintained.
• Clean Driving Record.
• Pass a DOT Drug & Alcohol Test.
• Pass a DOT physical and obtain a Medical Certificate.
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures.
