Job description

We are seeking a Ceded Re Recoverables Analyst to join our Ceded Re Recoverables team in our New York City office.

The position is responsible for researching/identifying the ceded reinsurance structure covering direct claims, preparing loss reports to reinsurers, answering reinsurers inquiries, billing reinsurers and pursuing claim recoveries and assisting in management reporting. The position will report to the VP, Ceded Re Recoverables.

Responsibilities include:

• Identification of reinsurance (Treaty & Facultative) for direct & retro claims
• Developing and sending initial notices and updates to intermediaries/reinsurers with appropriate information
• Responding to reinsurers queries
• Billing reinsurers, and working with the Ceded cash team to clear against the open subledger balances.
• Pursue and collection of outstanding reinsurer recoverables for assigned Facultative and Treaty balances. This is to also include research and resolution of open historic transactions.
• Work with Claims and other Sompo areas required to assist in facilitating internal and external party audits
• Assist in management reporting
• Ad-hoc reinsurance related projects

Desired Skills & Experience

• 4-year college degree and additional insurance and/or reinsurance certifications (ARe, ARM, CPCU) or degrees a plus
• 3 to 5 years of insurance and/or reinsurance claims, accounting, placement, recoverable/collections experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organization skills
• Excellent Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills
• High energy & self-motivated individual

Sompo International offers a competitive compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience. The minimum salary for this position: $90,000.
