Compensation: $26.50 per hour, plus benefits

Yakima County Superior Court is recruiting for Certified Court Interpreter openings. The Certified Court Interpreter performs simultaneous and consecutive interpretation between English and Spanish during court proceedings; assists attorneys in taking statements from non-English speaking witnesses and performs other office support work including coordinating and scheduling of other interpreters, updating frequently used court documents such as plea forms, scheduling orders, misdemeanor forms, and other court forms as needed. Attends meetings and continuing education classes as required to maintain certification status.

Education and Experience:
Must be a Certified Court Interpreter-as certified by the Administrative Office of the Courts in Washington State in the Spanish language. A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a court certified interpreter; OR any combination of experience or training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job (such as office practices and/or legal coursework).

Required:
Washington State Certification as a Certified Court Interpreter and current status on the State roster for Court Interpreters.

Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background investigation and general background verification.

Valid WA State Driver’s License and proof of insurance, if requested.

Preferred:
Computer experience in Microsoft Office Products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.

Experience in the legal field and working knowledge of the court system.

Experience with Zoom interpreting functions and Zoom meetings.

Must assimilate to concepts quickly and present a professional image.
