JOB TITLE: Building Instructional Coach
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Building instructional coaches are instrumental in providing high-quality, job-embedded professional learning and support that results in student success. The role of the coach is to build instructional capacity by enhancing the professional community of NLCS through job-embedded professional learning. An instructional coach is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure teacher and student success.
Instructional coaches will work collaboratively with grade-level PLCs, instructional coaches in other buildings and the Curriculum office. Instructional coaches will promote reflection, provide guidance and structure where needed, and focus on strengths, collaboration and common issues of concern. This is NOT a supervisory position and DOES NOT include evaluation of colleagues.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Building Instructional Capacity
Ensure high-quality content for professional learning in building and across the corporation- Foster NLCS professional knowledge by facilitating learning opportunities between colleagues
- Deliver ongoing professional learning opportunities
- Organize and disseminate data
- Provide program technical support
Planning & Professional Learning
Ensure high-quality content for professional learning in building and across the corporation- Foster NLCS professional knowledge by facilitating learning opportunities between colleagues

- Provide program technical support
Student Support
Support PLC teams, the MTSS team and the RTI framework at the building-level- Co-plan, co-assess, and co-instruct groups of students to address student learning needs in partnership with teachers
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree in education preferred.
Skills
& Knowledge
Excellent oral & written communication skills. Demonstrated teaching, data management, technology and leadership skills. A strategic and critical thinker with a proven ability to lead thoughtful, transformative action in complex organizations. Strong understanding of dialogical coaching and its applicability to enhancing teacher professional growth.
Experience
At least 5 years of teaching, and evidence of teacher-leadership experience. Experience in effective instructional design and professional development. The advanced ability to set and meet goals and priorities, and work with colleagues to implement and drive results-oriented systems.
