Description of role:
We are looking for a talented and motivated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our growing team at IndyCare. The CMA provides team based patient care as directed by the medical providers. The clinical knowledge and skills for this role cover all ages from infants to geriatrics. The CMA will be responsible for caring for patients, maintaining accurate and current patient records, performing in-clinic testing, procedures, treatments and administrative duties.
The scope of practice includes Urgent Care, Preventative Health, Collaborative Care and retail medicine (travel health, health screenings, convenient care).
The shifts are either 12hrs (Mon - Fri shifts) or 8hrs (Sat shifts). Saturday shift required every other week. Average total hrs/week is 34hrs.
Job Duties:
At IndyCare we have a relatively ‘Flat’ structure and a collaborative teamwork culture that follows the mantra that “if something drops, no one lets it hit the floor”. That means that everyone on our team from the CEO to the medical providers and medical assistants will all do a little bit of everything. On a day to day basis the main job duties will include both clinical administrative/business management responsibilities.
Clinical Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist medical providers in a variety of tasks including:
- Taking medical histories and recording vital signs
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Performing in-clinic testing
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
- Perform basic laboratory tests on the premises
- Dispose of contaminated supplies Sterilize medical instruments.
- Promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/her involvement in the plan of care, and document in patient record.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician
- Draw blood
- Take electrocardiograms
- Remove sutures/ staples.
- Change sterile and non-sterile dressings.
- Administer vaccinations
Administrative duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Helping to solve problems for our patients
- Answer telephone
- Update and file patient medical records
- Fill out insurance forms
- Handle correspondence
- Schedule appointments
- Arrange for laboratory services
- Handle billing and bookkeeping.
- Perform other administrative duties as directed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
We have sufficient PPE to protect our practice staff and routine sanitizing procedures. Patients with COVID-19 symptoms or exposures are only seen in our curbside health area outside or via telemedicine. NOTE: Covid-19 vaccination required for all employees
Experience:
- Medical Office Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
