Vesta, Inc. is seeking a certified substance use counselor to provide substance use treatment for our
Outpatient (OP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Program in Lanham, MD. Services provided would be individual, family, and group therapy as well as treatment planning and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that consumers in our program are receiving quality care.
Hours of position are typically M-F 11am -7:30 pm with a possible Saturday shift.
Must be certified CAC-AD, CPC-AD, LGADC, etc. recognized by the state of Maryland. CSC-AD and LG/LCPC will be considered. Non-licensed/certified applicants will not be considered.
Duties include but are not limited to completion of intake after assessment, developing individualized treatment plans, presenting clients in staffing, maintaining contact with appropriate individuals, discharge and referral development and planning.
Skillsets:
- Knowledge of substance abuse treatment and of 12 Step or Self-Help recovery process
- Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and respect for clients in group, individual counseling, and daily interactions
- Demonstrate the ability to address client behaviors effectively and with appropriate frequency, approved behavioral management strategies
- Demonstrate appropriate boundaries between self and clients
- Track progress of clients assigned to caseload
- Work cooperatively with other staff members and Corrections staff members and supervisors
Qualifications:
- Minimum: Associates degree in human services or substance use field with State of Maryland credentials. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- CSC-AD, CAC-AD, CPC-AD, LGADC
- Minimum of one-year experience working in a human service/substance abuse treatment setting
- Possess valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Counselors are paid monthly on a fee-for-service basis.
