FCSA provides services ranging from outpatient services, residential treatment care, educational support, and daytime child-care.

About the Job

The Certified Teacher is responsible to provide teaching, tutoring, testing, lesson plan preparation, curriculum selection, and establishment of educational goals for individual students. The Teacher will be required to collaboratively work with other educational and clinical staff to integrate each student’s individual mental health treatment plan, into the academic/classroom setting. For students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) the teacher will work closely with the school Special Education Teacher(s) to help facilitate the achievement of goals defined in each student’s IEP. As directed by the school Principal teachers may be required to provide a full range of academic subjects.

This position starts between $43,015.00 - 45,635.00, or more depending on experience and qualifications.

Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm.

Role Responsibilities Include:

· Provide classroom and individualized instructions in basic skill content, remedial and GED curriculum, physical education and/or arts and crafts activities.

· Provide education for the full range of academic subjects that would generally be available within the public school system.

· Administer individualized achievement tests for all basic subject areas.

· As requested, assist Special Education Teacher with developing instructional objectives for each student’s IEP.

· In collaboration with other school staff, evaluate newly admitted student transcripts and school records to determine their educational needs and establish academic goals.

· Attend MDT and IIT meetings with school and treatment staff to coordinate treatment and educational programs and activities to assure academic curriculum is consistent with each student's mental health treatment plan.

· Become familiar with each student's individualized mental health treatment plan.

· Provide crisis intervention as needed and provide support to treatment staff in crises situations.

· Observe student behavior and implement behavior modification plans as needed.

· Attend staff meetings, trainings (RESPECT, FASD, etc.), and IEP meetings as needed.

· Communicate with parents and community professionals as needed.

· Select and/or assist in the ordering of textbooks and other instructional materials.

· Ensure compliance with all school reporting and documentation requirements.

Qualifications:

· Must be COVID Vaccinated or willing to apply for a religious or medical exemption. All exemptions do require our CEO Approval prior to making an employment offer.

· Bachelor’s degree in education, guidance, and counseling, or other closely related human service area.

· Current State of Alaska teaching certificate or substitute accepted by Fairbanks North Star Borough School District required.

· Able to work as an education team and mental health treatment team member.

· Certified in Managing Aggressive Behavior or able to be certified.

· Familiarity with state and federal special education laws.

· Able to undergo a criminal background check to verify their record is free from criminal convictions which, in the judgment of FCSA, would adversely affect their ability to work with children.

This position is a driving position. Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
