Job description
ABOUT JUDGE BAKER CHILDREN’S CENTER
Judge Baker Children’s Center (JBCC) is a non-profit organization that serves children by promoting their healthy development, emotional, and intellectual well-being. Founded in 1917 and inspired by the work of Judge Harvey Baker, at JBCC we believe there is no such thing as a “bad kid,” but rather children who are born into difficult circumstances and haven’t connected with the right care and support. At JBCC, we aim to meet the overwhelming need by expanding access to the highest quality behavioral health care for all children and families.
ABOUT THE CENTER FOR EFFECTIVE THERAPY:
The Center for Effective Therapy (CET) is our state-of-the art outpatient center at JBCC. Serving children ages 2-22 and their families, CET provides the highest-quality evidence-based care designed to treat a wide range of behavioral and emotional concerns. These behavioral and emotional concerns include but are not limited to problems with anxiety, depression, behavior challenges, and traumatic stress disorders. At CET, we treat a multicultural population of clients including individuals from low income, racial, and ethnic minority backgrounds, members of the LGBTQ+ population, and children presenting with gender diversity. With locations in Boston and Waltham, we connect with our local community and build relationships to help break down the stigma around behavioral health care and show that we are partners dedicated to promoting inclusivity as well as health and emotional well-being for all. To do so, we provide treatments that have been proven to work, and we do so in a tailored way, making sure that we can customize treatments to the unique, specific needs of every child and caregiver.
To help us achieve this mission, CET is seeking a passionate Staff Psychologist to join its growing team. At CET we have a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of clinicians all enthusiastic about providing the best possible care to children and families. To support these goals, we provide ample training, supervision, and education to all members of our team and foster a community committed to learning, professional development, and continuous growth.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Outpatient Clinical Services, the Staff Psychologist will provide high quality behavioral health treatment to a culturally diverse population of children and young adults ages 2-22, utilizing evidence-based practices (EBP). Our mission is to take what we know works from science and to bring it into our community in the most widely accessible way.
The Staff Psychologist will participate in onsite and virtual evidence-based trainings and receive support working towards certification in various evidence-based approaches. Weekly seminars, supervision, and consultation meetings are core aspects of setting all clinicians up for success and fostering our community of lifelong learners dedicated to increasing access to high quality children’s behavioral health care.
While this role will begin as a primarily clinical and direct service position, opportunities to supervise doctoral students and build out new service lines will become available with demonstrated success and performance in the clinical role. We have a strong commitment to promoting the professional development of our staff and provide free, in-house training opportunities as well as free monthly continuing education seminars. Opportunities to join the clinical faculty at CET as part of JBCC’s APA-accredited outpatient training clinic, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, are available as staff psychologists demonstrate expertise in evidence-based treatment. Qualifying individuals are eligible for a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School and the academic rank for this appointment is expected to be at the Instructor level.

- 1-2 years of post-licensure clinical experience
- Experience developing and running therapeutic and/or educational programs for children
- Experience educating and coaching caregivers in 1:1 and/or group settings
WHAT CET OFFERS:
- Opportunities abound for continuous learning and professional growth through JBCC's high level of commitment to professional training for its staff. Receive in-house training from highly experienced and educated professionals and clinical leaders to become certified in MATCH ($3100 value) and PCIT ($4500 value) and partake in training for diagnostic interviewing.
- Starting salary range of $85K+ depending on experience.
- Demonstrated appreciation for your hard-work and efforts via pay increases for successful completion of MATCH and/or PCIT certifications, and career advancement opportunities for your excellent performance and initiative.
- A commitment to DEI training and incorporation of a multicultural lens into all organizational activities.
- An excellent benefits package, and flexibility with a hybrid work model, combining onsite (Waltham OR Boston) and remote work.
- Thorough on-boarding, and on-going support and supervision from a Senior Clinician.
- Work independently and collaboratively with a talented, bright, fun, humorous and hard-working team of individuals, and realize the impact of your knowledge, experience, passion and efforts working with children and adolescents with varying behavioral health concerns.
Contribute to CET’s highly effective and consistent operations and positively impact growth and expansion in its cutting-edge, culturally sensitive, behavioral health outpatient environment, with the support of a highly regarded and well-established organization and exceptional leadership team.
