Chief Banking Operations Officer

What you'll do:
As Chief Banking Operations Officer, you will be responsible for strategic planning and direction of overall banking operations. You will be responsible for driving a client focused culture with strong collaboration and cross-departmental/company relationships. This includes leading efficient, sustainable and scalable business processes that enhance and elevate our organizational culture while maximizing the Bank’s bottom line. The Chief Banking Operations Officer role will need to effectively assess risk in the operations area of the Bank and lead the implementation of effective risk controls and mitigants. Other responsibilities include:
- Oversite of the operational systems, development of new services, policies and procedures of the Bank operations including but not limited to Payment Operations, Loan Documentation/Servicing, Branch Operations, and Central Operations.
- Develop actionable business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives of the front-line business units.
- Manage a staff of over 500 employees focused on a highly inclusive culture based on People, Performance and Possibilities.
- Manages/implements Bank’s risk appetite and align policies and procedures while adhering to all applicable state and federal banking regulations. Works closely with 2nd line and 3rd line business partners.
What we are looking for:

Ensure compliance with the Bank’s goals, policies and objectives by directing the daily operations of the Bank.

Effectively lead and support a team of banking professionals to achieve targeted goals.

Monitor, manage and improve the client focused banking operations utilizing digital capabilities.

Maintains a competitive and technological edge within the market by analyzing emerging trends in the banking industry, developing new products and services, recommending new technologies and working with the IT and Product Development Office to implement and monitor the progress of those services and technologies.

Leads the BCP/DR efforts of banking operations.

Ensure compliance with federal and state banking regulations by setting proper policies and procedures within areas of responsibility.

Foster a culture of innovation, performance and accountability, focusing on growth and exceptional customer experience.

Ensures the financial soundness of the Bank by actively participating in ALCO, ERMC, ORMC and other assigned committees.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management or Finance required.

MBA or Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 15 years’ experience as a senior leader in banking operations.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience of direct team lead or people management.

Strong knowledge of Wire Transfers, ACH, Card Operations and payment rails.

Advanced knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, Bank lending policies and procedures, and the Bank’s products and services.

Advanced experience, knowledge and training in all lending/operational activities and terminology.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to instruct others, interpret documents, write reports and correspondence.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.

Ability to travel locally, regionally or nationwide to assist with compliance needs of other Divisions of Western Alliance Bank to include monitoring, training, and other compliance related issues.
