Chief Operations Officer (COO)

Summary :
Together with other Senior Managers the Chief Operations Officer (COO) is responsible for the overall operations Management of Sorenson Engineering. Achievement of the Shareholders goals is the principal target for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise all daily operations of the company, excluding IT and HR
- Work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Technical Officer
- Responsible for delivering quality product on time to meet customer specifications and expectations.
- Confer with Senior Management and/or staff members to discuss issues, coordinate activities, or resolve problems.
- Analyze operations to evaluate performance of a company or its staff in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change.
- Negotiate contracts or agreements with suppliers, federal or state agencies, or other organizational entities.
- Constantly evaluate production methods and processes to ensure Sorenson Engineering stays as the Industry Leader in precision machining and delivery performance.
- Ensure Sorenson Engineering has an up-to-date disaster plan which should include succession planning, back up production plan etc.
- Manage workforce needs and plans in all Manufacturing operations, this includes performance reviews, hiring, counselling and terminations.
- Ensure quality standards are adhered to at all times, taking whatever action is necessary upon any failures.
- Ensure employees remain motivated and enthusiastic for individual and Company success at all times. This includes mentoring, training and coaching to bring out the best in everyone.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, problem solving and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of administrative procedures. Able to manage paper files and electronic records. Able to interpret instructions both written and oral. Able to communicate effectively in English. Bilingual is a plus.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior management position. Ideally has experience in precision machining or job shop manufacturing.
Physical Demands
Must be able to periodically walk to other areas of the plant, must have good eyesight and hand dexterity, and able to identify and distinguish colors.
Work Environment
Within safety guidelines, there will be exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.
